Many of my early Czech ancestors lie buried in Holy Sepulcher Catholic Cemetery in Plattsmouth, Cass County, Nebraska. This cemetery today falls under the jurisdiction of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth. This is a relatively new parish, which replaced two former Catholic churchs, the original St. John the Baptist (Irish and German), and the Czech Catholic Church, Holy Rosary. In late 1992, during a visit to Plattsmouth, I was able to obtain photocopies of all the extant records of St. John's and Holy Rosary churches. From those copies, I have abstracted many early records. They include Records of Burials from both churches, and the Burial Records of Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, which combined provide records of deaths and burials from 1882 to 1953, with a few scattered records to the 1980's included. большой выбор джинсов
In addition, I found Baptismal Records of Holy Rosary Church from 1891 to November 6, 1923. On the page for the year 1908, there was a notation stating: "All Baptisms from November 15, 1908 to June 1, 1910 will be found in the Baptism Register of St. John's Church." Lastly, there were records entitled "1st ten marriages of Catholics in Plattsmouth". Following these ten marriages, others were listed, covering the period from 1850 to 1879.
The effort to abstract these records proved to be a challenge. The photocopies were not always clear, and some of the handwriting was difficult to read due to the flourishes typical of penmanship one hundred years ago. Furthermore, many of the records were written in Latin and Czech! Fortunately, I had some high school Latin, and had just completed writing a book on my Czech ancestors. Therefore, I was familiar with certain Czech inscriptions, and how to use a Czech-English dictionary.
